Animal Adoption
At PHC we like to ensure our animals are going to the best possible fitting home that will cater for their needs, and where they will be loved and cared for. We get very attached to our animals and like to know that they are going to a good home, where they will be treated like family, because we believe they ARE family.
Just like humans, all animals are different and have their own little personalities. Some like to play fetch and go on lots of walks, others like to lounge around and get plenty of cuddles. We place these differences at the very core of our process when we are searching for their new homes, because these attributes are what will determine the type of home they would be happiest in - their happiness (and yours) is our goal.
During the adoption process we will ask a number of questions to find out everything we need to know about our animal’s potential home to satisfy our requirements. We also ask these questions to make sure that you get a pet that fits with your lifestyle and is one you will want as part of your family - trust us it’s for the best possible outcome.
Fees
Paws, Hoofs and Claws rely heavily on the generosity of the local community, fundraising events and our members to help us fund our purpose. Our fees are a direct reflection of the expense we go to for our animals.
We often make a ‘loss’ on animals that we have rescued from the pound and need to recoup these costs in other areas. By law we must have animals microchipped before they leave our care so this will always be factored into the cost of animal adoption. Our fees also help us to cover the cost of medical treatments including vaccinations, worming, vet checks and de-sexing. Paws, Hoofs and Claws subsidises most of these costs so that new owners are paying less than they would if the same procedures were organised privately. This makes each animal more affordable and gets them started on a healthy regime. We do not charge for any costs associated with health issues even though some of these are very expensive.
All of our “workers” are volunteers, who give up their free time to make what we do possible.
