Here is the Face of a Lone Survivor....
PHC got an urgent call on Boxing Day from a young lady who had five older pups who all appeared to have Parvo...
Unfortunately, they were in the advanced stages of this horrendous virus and were vomiting and pooping waterfalls of blood.... One pup had already died at the address before Paula arrived and the news was not good for the others. Only one pup was in a good enough condition to respond to the treatment and she has undergone a stint on a drip with heavy doses of medication....
Dolly is the name we have given to the lucky survivor and she was very pleased to leave the vet behind yesterday. Dolly is a very happy girl and has bounced back quickly and is loving company and making the most of cuddles... She is a clever girl and will be easy to train.....
These pups were all around six months old and while it is unusual to see a whole litter contract the virus at the same time, it does happen...
There is a lesson to be learnt here...don't risk your dog's life by failing to get it vaccinated.... the cost is worth every cent.
