About us
About Paws Hoofs and Claws Inc. (PHC)
Paws Hoofs and Claws Inc. was founded in 2010 by a small group of passionate animal lovers in Mount Isa. What began as a foster-based refuge for abandoned, abused, surrendered, and orphaned animals quickly grew into a recognised community organisation.
In May 2010, PHC gained Incorporation status, giving us a stronger foundation for forward planning and greater recognition across the community. Over the years, we have refined our operations with the introduction of standard procedures for animal intake, veterinary care, and foster tracking - ensuring every animal receives consistent, high-quality support.
In November 2012, PHC was granted Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status by the Australian Taxation Office, allowing us to accept tax-deductible donations and apply for grants. We are also recognised as a Registered Charity with both the Australian Taxation Office and the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. These milestones have opened exciting opportunities for our future, including our ultimate goal of building a dedicated animal shelter right here in Mount Isa to expand the level of care we can provide to the community and surrounding townships.
Our Mission
At Paws Hoofs and Claws Inc., we are committed to:
-
Reuniting lost or found animals with their families as quickly as possible.
-
Finding safe, loving homes for abandoned or neglected animals through our adoption program.
-
Rescuing animals from the local pound whenever our resources allow.
-
Addressing cruelty cases in collaboration with the RSPCA, DPI, or Police where possible.
-
Educating the community about responsible pet care, including nutrition, housing, exercise, health, and positive socialisation.
-
Providing immediate and ongoing care to every animal that enters our network.
PHC work tirelessly to find homes for every animal in our care and believe that all animals - especially those abandoned or neglected - deserve a safe, healthy, and happy life. All animals in our foster program receive veterinary care, vaccinations, worming, and, when of age, desexing before adoption.
While we strive to help as many animals as possible, our services are limited by available foster carers, resources, and funding. Even so, our commitment remains unwavering: to give every animal we can a second chance at life and love.
